Article: Who am I?

This is an image when Maizi was traveling in Taiwan. We went to see Jiufen, the Miyazaki film was inspired by. This is a beach near there that had cool rock formations. This is an image of a circular one with rocks in the background.

Who am I?

Hello! Maizi here!

Me?

I'm an Asian American person who tends to have a hard time being consistent with one subject. Whether it is art, music, gaming or what to do with my time in general. I always thought this was an issue and wondered if anyone else goes through these inconsistencies. My tendencies makes it harder to stay focused or focusing on that thing for awhile then quickly lose interest after. I still enjoy creative hobbies but have to bounce between different ones based on what I want to do. Though I try to create more often with my full-time job I tend to not focus on art.

I love singing or gaming in any downtime I can get. Normally, most of the singing comes when doing daily housework like dishes, cooking, etc. Something about being able to listen to your own music in a house rather than a apartment makes it feel so much more free. Once in awhile with my close friends who are like family having random karoake nights. Always a blast and stress reliever. Since my younger days, gaming is what I loved doing the most and continues on. I remember staying up on school nights just to play on my Gamecube or playing the DS during sports. Though, I don't have as much time now to play games it is one of the hobbies I try to juggle.

I'm trying to do new things and changing what to work on day to day to keep it interesting. Many times I would think, "I'm reaaallly bored and I want to do something!" so picking up things that would interest me. Two of the things I have picked up is learning Japanese and Traditional Chinese.  I grew up learning and hearing Simplified Chinese but gradually lost it without practice in my personal or business life. Originally, I couldn't think of starting anything new. I was comfortable in life with my job, husband, friends and cats. After traveling to Taiwan with experiencing culture and food did I realize I want to do more in my life or to challenge myself. I'll add a picture to show how Taiwan was and sketches of practicing art as I post more blogs.

No face or socials?

I have decided to join ACI as a behind the scenes person. This includes any internal systems, the digital presence and mainly social media. Not only to help the four studios focus on their art but to provide back-up, ideas to reach out or form a community. Though I have little experience managing the editing, photos, reels and posts have been fun! As I gain more experience the quality will get better. Hopefully, you all will be here to see the process.

I prefer not to show my face and am more comfortable with that. I haven't had the best experience with having an online footprint or social medias like Facebook and Instagram. I think because of that showing photos that include my face isn't going to happen. Originally, I leaned toward this decision before COVID when working from home and thought keeping up with content feeds was a struggle or not needed. I decided to go ahead and delete all my socials because I wasn't going to use it. Since making that decision, it is easier for me and allowed me not to be glued to my phone 24/7. Maybe later on I will feel more comfortable to show my face but until then the drawing in the "About Us" page is a representation of me.

I hope this doesn't deter any connection or communication with me because of this decision. I am active under the ACI Instagram, Facebook and reading any comments on the website!
