Meet the Artist: Storm
Meet the artist
Hello friends, it’s Storm of Storm Garden Studios. I am a queer, multimedia artist and new mother of two! 🪺 My husband and I have been happily married for 3 1/2 years; however, he has supported and facilitated many of my artistic endeavors- unfinished and ongoing - for many years. I have my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from VCU, 2018, and have worked in behavioral therapy and human services for about 5 years until becoming a mama in January 2025! Now my journey has taken the route of stay-at-home mama! My aspirations to pursue art therapy as a career grow daily as the world gets crazier and crazier.🙃
🍃I am in love with all things natural, organic, creepy, crawly, colorful, slimy, sparkly, and bright. I believe in the magic of existence and nature, conservation, preservation, and balance. I believe in continuous growth and love to learn. I find that it is important to find beauty and growth in each new challenge.✨
🍃My greatest inspirations come from surrealism, abstractions, nouveau styles, and the outdoors, where I can observe and celebrate the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. I also love the little moments in between space and time where a shadow is just right. 🍂
My primary medium is acrylic on canvas; however, I love watercolors, polymer clay, beading, and jewelry making, as well as photography and wood burning, to name a few. I love exploring new mediums and have too many hobbies and projects to count!
Painting has always been therapeutic and helped me express those feelings I didn’t quite have the words for.
I love metal and funk, folk and punk. My favorite color is green. I’m super into fruits, veggies, and Dr.Pepper right now.
🌿 As I continue balancing motherhood, creativity, and the dream of one day practicing art therapy, I’m excited to share my journey with you all. Art has always been my way of making sense of the world- a way to celebrate beauty, process challenges, and hold on to the magic I see in everyday life. ✨
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better- I can’t wait to keep creating, learning, and growing alongside this community. 💚
