Article: 🌸 Spring Shifts & Studio Flow

🌸 Spring Shifts & Studio Flow

By: Lee Hansheng Studios (LHS)

There’s something about early spring (I know it's technically still late winter... but the vibes and light are coming back...) that shakes the dust off everything — literally and figuratively.

The light changes, the energy shifts, and without even meaning to, I find myself in motion: reorganizing shelves, clearing out forgotten corners of the office, moving brushes from one side of the desk to the other like they’ll suddenly tell me what needs painting next.

This year, that shift feels more intentional.

đź–Ą 2D Studio & Office Updates

The 2D studio has been slowly but surely getting a seasonal refresh. Nothing too flashy — no full makeover — but a realignment of tools, surfaces, and energy.

  • My main workstation is now centered around better natural light (hello, longer days).

  • The files are re-sorted — yes, finally — by series and medium, with easier access to in-progress works.

  • I’ve updated my reference wall with new inspirations: a blend of dried leaves from last fall, a few printouts from temple studies, and two recent sketches that don’t yet belong to any series, but feel like they’re on the edge of something.

  • The supply shelves got a mini purge, which somehow always feels like both a meditation and a small act of rebellion. I let go of what no longer fits my flow.

Spring is about unfurling — and the studio is mirroring that.

🧑🎨 Client Projects & Creative Commitments

In the midst of these studio shifts, I’ve been deep in client work. A few highlights from recent weeks:

  • Finalizing the cover and formatting for Invisible Spiritual Laws — a project that blends spiritual clarity with elegant, understated visual storytelling.

  • Designing logos and symbolic motifs for two new clients — both pieces rooted in nature-based energy and storytelling.

  • Prepping interior layouts for a series of something coming from a longtime friend and collaborator.

  • A few hush-hush projects that I can’t share just yet, but let’s just say… I’ve been revisiting my ink brushes with love.

  • And a beloved memory that will soon take flight in glass.

Client work is a different kind of rhythm than personal pieces. It asks me to listen more, to interpret, to hold space for someone else’s vision while filtering it through my own visual language. It’s collaborative, but never impersonal.

And it reminds me that being an artist isn’t just about making things — it’s about translating.

🌀 The Season Ahead

I’ve got a few pieces I’m eager to return to — including “Ginkgo Lake” and “The Geisha,” both calling to me like a quiet breath through the trees.

In the meantime, I’ll be sharing more of my day-to-day process over on Instagram and YouTube. I’m hoping this season brings not just growth, but groundedness. Not just momentum, but meaning.

If you’ve been feeling the pull to re-center, refresh, or refocus — you’re not alone.

Thanks for being here, and for growing alongside me.

With gratitude and ink-stained, dusty, (I think this is charcoal too) fingers,
